German media group Wige Media has created a sports portal offering live and on-demand coverage of amateur sports events.
Founding partners of sporttotal.tv are Deutsche Telekom with support by Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure, Deutsche Post and Allianz Deutschland.
The free-of-charge, ad-supported portal will capture the competitions through a fully automated 180° HD camera installed at the locations.
In a joint trial with football associations Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB) and Bayerischer Fußball-Verband (BFV), sporttotal.tv will cover games of amateur football leagues in the second half of the 2016/17 season.
Deutsche Telekom wants to make selected live coverage and highlights from sporttotal.tv available on its IPTV platform Entertain TV and on further platforms operated by the telco.
With their joint initiative, the partners want to raise visibility and awareness of amateur sports. Further sports in addition to football will be included in future.
