Poland’s PM Beata Szydlo has indicated that TV Bielsat, a channel operated by the public broadcaster TVP and aimed at viewers in Belarus, still has a future.
Speaking to Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, the channel’s director, and quoted by Wirtualne Media, she said that a compromise solution for its future would shortly be found.
Reports last month said that Poland’s Foreign Ministry (MSZ) would reduce TV Bielsat’s annual budget from PLN17 million (€3.9 million).
It was also reported that TV Bielsat could be merged with the public broadcaster’s international channel TVP Polonia.
This prompted some viewers in Belarus to appeal directly to PM Szydlo and Poland’s president Andrzej Duda to save the channel.
