German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will remove German car and motor sports channel Motorvision TV from its IPTV line-up on January 2, 2017.
The decision follows the jointly reached agreement to terminate the channel’s exclusive distribution by Sky Deutschland.
As a consequence, Motorvision TV will no longer be available on Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV platform Entertain TV, a Telekom spokesman confirmed to Broadband TV News. The carriage of Motorvision TV by Teleclub in Switzerland will also be terminated.
The affected viewers possibly won’t have to miss out on the channel for long: Motorvision TV is currently negotiating with platform operators about carriage deals via cable, IPTV and OTT outside the Sky platform, a spokesman told Broadband TV News.
Since October 2016, Motorvision TV has been available on OTT platform Mobile2Morrow Television (M2M TV) on smart TV sets, tablets, smartphones, laptops and PCs. Apps are provided, for example, for Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.
Sky Deutschland will continue to transmit the channel for DTH satellite households on Astra (19.2° East).
From February 2017, Motorvision TV will broadcast in HD quality on M2M TV for the first time. The launch of Motorvision TV HD takes place at the occasion of the start of the new season of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for which the channel recently acquired the broadcast rights until 2019.
