Canal+ Group and France’s Professional Football League (LFP) have signed an agreement on coverage of games in Ligue 1 and Domino’s Ligue 2.
Continuing on from work already undertaken in the coverage of Ligue 1, the two parties have decided that coverage of the league on Sundays should be in 4k.
Furthermore, under the terms of the agreement the kick-off times of some games from Ligue 1 (Sunday) and Domino’s Ligue 2 (Monday), shown on Canal+ and Canal+ Sport respectively, have been moved from January 14, 2017.
The agreement, which covers the period 2016-2012 within Canal+’s strategy, foresees an economic contribution for the LFP. It is also described as a “win-win” for both parties.
Commenting on the agreement, Didier Quillot, executive VP of the LFP, said: “I am very pleased with this agreement between the LFP and the Canal Plus Group, which will allow an economic contribution to the LFP and will strengthen our partnership to continually improve the quality of our Ligue 1 product”.
Maxime Saada, general manager of Canal Plus Group, added: “Canal Plus Group is pleased with this agreement for the next four seasons. It allows us to offer a better reading of our new sports offers and to perpetuate the big poster of the Ligue 1 on Sunday night at 21:00. This agreement is the result of a joint effort undertaken with the LFP to develop the quality and attractiveness of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2”.
