The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has introduced a new hybrid satellite and OTT receiver with significantly enhanced functionality.
According to its DG Mikhail Demin, sales of the receiver will start in November.
Although they are initially expected to account for around 10% of all new equipment sales, this could grow to 50% by the end of 2017.
The receiver is being produced by Kaonmedia, with the software developed by NTV-Plus and Gazprom Media Technologies, which is part of Gazprom Media Holding.
NTV-Plus is the longest-established DTH platform in Russia, having made its debut in the mid-1990s.
It currently has around 1.2 million subscribers.
