A+E’s Sean Cohan to keynote at MIPCOM

September 19, 2016 14.39 Europe/London By Robert Briel

mipcom2016keynoteSean Cohan, president, International and Digital Media, A+E Networks; Susanne Daniels, Global Head of Original Content, YouTube; and creator and executive producer Adi Hasak join the line-up of Media Mastermind Keynote speakers at MIPCOM 2016.

Sean Cohan, president, International and Digital Media, A+E Networks, has a remit that covers 75 branded channel feeds worldwide and a 13,000-hour library distributed across more than 200 territories in 39 languages. His keynote will focus on the need for strong original content, great storytelling, and how to strategically make and exploit that content while at the same time defining and popularizing great brands around it. He will also touch on A+E Networks’ recent launch of 45th & Dean, a multi-platform video and audio storytelling hub and agency. Cohan will be interviewed by industry stalwart Ben Silverman , Founder & CEO of leading US independent studio Electus, and co-creator of shows like “The Tudors”.

Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s Global Head of Original Content, will take a special look at YouTube and its new slate of original programming tailor-made for growing digital audiences. As the former President of Entertainment at the WB (now CW), Lifetime and MTV, Daniels will discuss the evolution of original programming and its importance in an age of fragmented audiences and on-demand and mobile-first viewing. She’ll discuss YouTube’s unique strategy, from highlighting the talents of established YouTube creators to pairing them with leading Hollywood directors and producers who can help bring their visions to life, all while empowering a new generation of independent and diverse voices. Daniels will be joined onstage by Lionsgate Television Group Chairman Kevin Beggs, an industry veteran responsible for some of the biggest hits on television across every platform, to talk about a new partnership with YouTube, as well as award-winning filmmaker and Rooster Teeth Chief Creative Officer, Burnie Burns, who has spent over a decade breaking new ground in online video.

Adi Hasak is Creator, Executive Producer and Showrunner of USA Network’s “Eyewitness” produced by Universal Cable Productions and NBC’s “Shades of Blue”. In his MIPCOM keynote, Hasak will explore the crossover between the film and TV industries, as well as the creative process behind the adaptation of the original Norwegian format on which “Eyewitness” is based. He will tell MIPCOM delegates that quality is key in today’s saturated marketplace if you want to rise above the noise. Hasak’s keynote will lead into the Personality of the Year keynote from writer/director/producer Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind such worldwide hits as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal”.
