The Russian cable operator Akado Telekom has made a number of premium channels available in its basic package.
As a result, its digital TV subscribers in Moscow can now watch 200, rather than the previous 150, channels in its basic package.
Akado Telekom says it is the first cable operator in Russia to make such a move, which was a response to customer preferences.
Despite the change, it still continues to offer viewers a choice of 17 premium packages, covering such genres as sport, entertainment and film.
