Direct One has acquired Netcity, the underground fibre-optic infrastructure serving the Romanian capital, Bucharest, from UTI Group for an undisclosed fee.
According to ZF, Direct One is owned by the Romanian entrepreneurs Teofil Muresan and Simion Muresan and operates a national fibre-optic network of over 5,500km that provides exclusive connections between cities.
Netcity is meanwhile operated by Netcity Telecom.
It has a licence obtained from Bucharest City Hall and its network in the Romanian capital is currently around 1,000km long.
Netcity had a turnover of RON€40.4 million (€9.1 million) in 2015, or 3% more than a year earlier.
Its net profit was RON14.5 million (+33%) and it had debts of RON58.1 million.
