Key exec rejoins MTG

August 8, 2016 13.27 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Bun BeesonMTG has appointed Bun Beeson VP of pay-TV and VOD programming acquisitions.

In her new role, she will head MTG’s team responsible for the acquisition of content for MTG’s Viasat film and series channels, and Viaplay and other streaming services in Scandinavia and internationally. She will also focus on the further development of MTG’s programming strategy in the rapidly evolving media landscape.

Beeson has rejoined MTG in London after six years at BBC Worldwide, where she was VP of global acquistions in the content division, responsible for acquiring all content for the international portfolio of BBC branded thematic channels. She previously worked at MTG for four years, including two as head of acquisitions of pay-TV programming for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Beeson will report into Vanda Rapti, senior VP of programming acquisitions.

Commenting on the appointment, Jakob Mejlhede, MTG’s EVP of programming and content development, said: “It is exciting to welcome Bun back to this newly enlarged role working across all of our territories with our pay-TV channels and on-demand services. We are buying more content for more windows than ever before, so attracting super skilled and experienced professionals like Bun to lead the deal making with existing and future content producers and distributors around the world is essential. Bun is a results driven high achiever with a fantastic attitude that fits MTG’s bold, smart, fun and engaging culture.”

Beeson said: “I am delighted to be re-joining MTG at this exciting time in the Group’s development. I know the people, and the products well and am looking forward to further expanding MTG’s acquisition of the best content for its customers, and optimising rights utilisation across the Group’s platforms and territories. This is a unique opportunity given the range of MTG’s offering, which is leading the way in the industry as video consumption moves online, on mobile and on demand.”
