Dutch incumbent telecoms operator KPN has launched versions of its OTT service KPN Play for web and Apple TV.
The live and on-demand service offers 26 linear channels including three HBO channels as well as a dedicated channel for KPN-exclusive content called KPN Presenteert for a monthly subscription fee of EUR14.99.
The web player initially works only with the Google Chrome browser in full screen mode. Additional features are expected to be added later, such as VOD, catch-up and recordings.
KPN also announced that it has added support for AirPlay for Play subscribers using the service with an Apple TV box, so all content can be viewed on a regular TV set. Google Chromecast was already available on the service.
KPN Play competes with T-Mobile’s OTT service Knippr, which was launched in beta in March 2016, and is also available via Apple TV.
