Siemens launches Smart Video Engine release 2.0

April 20, 2016 08.30 Europe/London By Robert Briel

siemens-smart-video-engineTV Connect booth 102. Siemens Convergence Creators presents the 2.0 release of its Smart Video Engine – End-to-end OTT video service platform.

The platform solution ‘Smart Video Engine’ is the designated successor to OTT Swipe and has been designed with a focus on productivity, flexibility and scalability, helping industry players realize the full potential of their content-based business models. It is structured in three main modules that enable the comprehensive management of content, rights and monetization.

The first module, Business Management, is a customisable workflow administration tool for content, contracts and metadata. It incorporates ingest and multiformat encoding, contract and content handling, content protection, product and package bundling, flexible support for multiple business models and set-up of individual editor rights and roles.

The second module, Data Hub, provides all the necessary features for subscriber management, multiple consumption models as well as secure monetization. It comprises multistream video delivery, billing and payment, reporting and analytics, cloud and dedicated server setup and provides multiple external APIs.

The third module, Applications, consists of a broad range of feature-rich, ready to go apps providing a fast time to market and cost-efficient option for launching an OTT video service.

True to its philosophy of a complete, smart and independent service provision, Smart Video Engine is a comprehensive product with maximum flexibility regarding business models, bundling and packaging. It operates with advanced data analysis and recommendations to provide sophisticated business intelligence and monetization options. And while it excels as a true end-to-end solution, it also allows a smooth integration with partners and new eco-systems. Users have the option of selecting their own Content Delivery Network(s), Digital Rights Management (DRM) and encoding and payment providers, as fits their needs. The system is designed to seamlessly fit each customer’s context and particular set of business requirements.

Markus Placho, Head of Media Business Unit, Siemens Convergence Creators: “Smart Video Engine is a high-impact solution available to virtually every player in the content distribution market. It not only optimizes existing workflow chains that generate revenue but also enables broadcasters, program distributors, telcos, internet and communications service providers and everyone offering or planning to offer video services to consider new monetisation options. Customers with widely differing requirements entrust us with the realization of their projects. We deliver to the point, made possible by teams including some of the best solution architects, teams with decades of development and implementation experience ranging from greenfield projects to highly complex backend solutions tailored exactly to the client’s needs.”
