French media company Trace will launch an international subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in June 2016.
With multicultural and urban entertainment, Trace Play targets multicultural millennials as well as lovers of urban, hip-hop, Afro-American, African, Brazil and Caribbean cultures.
The line-up will comprise movies, series, TV shows, documentaries, sports lifestyle, animation and music programmes. The content will be both local and international and include original and exclusive productions. 2,000 hours of programming will be available at launch, rising to over 4,000 hours at the end of the first year.
In addition to the on-demand section, the platform will also offer linear Trace music channels Trace Urban, Trace Tropical, Trace Africa, Trace Toca and Trace Gospel as well other channels as livestreams.
Trace Play will be rolled out as an OTT service in 84 countries in 2016 for access on PCs, tablets and smartphones (iOS/Android). The coverage zone includes the USA, UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Canada.
The SVOD service first mentioned by Trace CEO Olivier Laouchez in September 2015 will offer its content in English and French language first with further languages to follow. There will be daily, weekly and monthly subscriptions; price details have not yet been announced.
