German commercial broadcaster RTL II will launch an online TV service for young viewers combining linear television with an on-demand platform at the end of May 2016.
With original productions, third-party content, for example from YouTube stars, and popular RTL II formats, RTL II You wants to mainly target people between 14 and 25 years of age.
During daytime, the focus will be on female topics such as beauty, fashion and lifestyle while the evening schedule will target a male audience with gaming, sports and comedy.
RTL II You will comprise a 24 hour linear TV channel and a video-on-demand service both of which are free of charge and ad-supported.
Offered as an OTT service, RTL II You can be received via smart TV, PC, laptop, tablet and smartphone (iOS/Android) as well as Amazon Fire TV. Classic distribution on cable, satellite or DTT is not envisaged.
