Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has dismissed an appeal against a DTT licence it awarded to a lifestyle channel named Kiwi TV last November.
Wirtualne Media reports the appeal was lodged by Telewizja Puls and Scripps Networks Polska, who were hoping to secure places for their own channels on what will be the country’s eighth DTT multiplex (MUX-8).
Full details of the decision will be made available shortly, after which Telewizja Puls and Scripps Networks Polska will be able to decide if to refer the matter to the Regional Administrative Court.
Four other failed bidders for the lifestyle channel slot on the multiplex – Kino Polska TV, ZPR Media, Polsat and Discovery Polsat decided not to appeal against the licence award.
Kiwi TV, which will be operated by Agora, is due to make its debut this autumn and is expected to break even in 4-5 years.
