The broadcaster 1+1 Media is set to enter Ukraine’s DTH market by buying a platform currently backed by Modern Times Group (MTG).
Quoting LIGABusinessInform, Mediasat reports that the crux of the deal would see 1+1 Media, which is owned by the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, by Vision TV, which holds the operating licence for Viasat Ukraine.
It adds that industry experts estimate the deal could be worth in the region of $15 million to $20 million
Viasat Ukraine is understood to have around 150,000 subscribers and lasy year enter into a venture with Kyivstar to launch an internet delivered service named Home TV.
The DTH market in Ukraine is highly fluid and has in the last few years seen the closure of no fewer than three platforms – Poverkhnost+, MyTV and Lybid TV.
