In a statement, Vodafone confirmed it is in discussions with Liberty Global regarding the creation of a joint venture in the Netherlands.
The announcement was made following media reports about a renewal of the talks between the two companies.
The potential joint company would incorporate both companies’ local operating businesses.
Liberty Global owns and operates the country’s largest cable operator, Ziggo, while Vodafone is the second largest mobile operator, after incumbent KPN.
Ziggo serves about 90% of the country with its cable network, serving 4,139,800 connected TV homes.
“The discussions are ongoing and do not extend beyond the creation of a joint venture in the Netherlands,” according to the statement, adding that “there is no certainty as to when or whether any transaction will be agreed.””
