Israeli DTH company Yes has been accused of charging customers for VOD transactions without their customers consent.
A new class action says that Yes and an unnamed fellow pay-TV operator have been overcharging subscribers by signing them up to ‘automatically renewable time limited transactions’ without their consent.
The move is said to be contrary to local consumer protection laws.
The signatories are seeking to be refunded the money they have been overcharged, which could present Yes with a bill of tens of million shekels.
Yes said it was evaluating the claim and could not say whether the signatories had a chance of success.
