Satelio, the German pay-TV platform for DTH households in Africa, has resumed its operations on November 24, 2015 after a two-day break following the loss of contact with Israeli satellite Amos-5 (17° East).
The offering now uses the Astra 4A (5° East) satellite of Luxembourg-based SES. A long-term contract for transponder capacity has been signed with the satellite operator, according to Satelio.
Astra 4A can be received throughout Sub-Saharan Africa with 90 cm dishes, thus Satelio’s customers can continue to use their existing equipment. They only have to move their dish to the new orbital position. The costs involved will be covered by Satelio.
The package is transmitted on the frequency 12.565 GHz V (SR 30,000, FEC 5/6). Satelio also added two new channels to its line-up: RTL Nitro and ProSieben Maxx.
