TalkTalk has announced a series of free upgrades for its customers in the wake of last month’s cyber attack. Customers will be able to opt for a selection of features that include additional TV content, a monthly allowance of free calls and texts, and a broadband health check. The operator has also launched a new security package. It says the offer will be available to customers, regardless of whether or not they were impacted by the cyber attack.
Dido Harding, TalkTalk Chief Executive said: “TalkTalk takes the security of customers’ data extremely seriously and we are taking significant further steps to ensure our systems are protected, as well as writing to all our customers outlining what we are doing to keep their data safe.
“In recognition of the unavoidable uncertainty, and because we know that doing what is right for our customers will ensure the best possible outcome for the company over the longer term, we are today announcing the offer of a choice of free upgraded services to all our customers.”
TalkTalk has admitted there may be some impact on churn following the cyber attack that saw its website compromised though customer banking details remained secure.
As it stands TalkTalk has seen churn increase marginally from 1.4% one year ago to 1.5% as of December 30, 2015.
An additional 25,000 homes were added in the last six months with 39% of the installed base now taking the YouView-powered TV service.
1.4 million customers now take a triple play bundle of telephony, broadband and TV.
