The Russian broadcaster CTC Media is likely to retain its thematic channel Peretz, which was expected to close following the launch this week of a new channel named Che.
Quoting two unnamed sources at CTC Media, Vedomosti reports that Peretz will be transformed into a cable and satellite delivered service after it loses its terrestrial frequency to Che.
Peretz was launched in 2011, replacing a channel named DTV.
However, its audience share among viewers aged 25-49 amounted to only 2% and it was the only channel in CTC Media’s portfolio to see its revenues decline in 2014.
CTC Media already operates a cable and satellite channel named CTC Love.
