The owners of Middle East pay-TV platform OSN have denied it has been sold to the Qatar Investment Authority.
Kipco told the Kuwait Stock Exchange that the reports were untrue. The statement was made in line with market regulations.
The Qatar Investment Authority was founded in 2005 by the then Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to manage the oil and natural gas surpluses held by the government. It has since invested in a number of infrastructure projects.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, a director of the Authority, is also on the board of Al Jazeera Sports
OSN is owned by KIPCO and Saudi Arabia’s Mawarid group. It offers close to 140 channels with 38 in the HD format.
