RT (Russia Today) may launch a service aimed at the Balkan region in 2016.
A number of media outlets throughout the region carry unconfirmed reports that the service will be based in Belgrade and target Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
One source – Dnevni List – also says that €11 million has been allocated for the launch of the service, while others say that the film director Emir Kusterica will be asked to head the service.
Broadband TV news notes that RT is currently operating under budgetary constraints and has had to put back launches of French and German language versions.
