KPN launches OTT service Play

November 2, 2015 10.08 Europe/London By Robert Briel

KPN_PlayWATCH VIDEO. KPN is launching its OTT live and on-demand streaming service Play today, November 2.

Play has an introductory price of €11.99 per month and can be cancelled every month. After the introductory period, Play will cost €14.99 per month. Viewers can find details of the service on the dedicated Play website.

A beta version of KPN Play was launched in June and beta tested by a closed user group of about 2,000 people.

“Our viewing habits are changing; we want more and more to choose where and when we watch television or series. And Play gives you that freedom,”said Frank van der Post, CCO at KPN.

“Moreover Play TV always offers an interesting personalised selection of relevant programmes. For example, the app suggestions based on viewing behaviour, people can make their own pinbord of programmes, series and movies and friends can tip each other with ‘must sees’.”

Play offers 22 linear TV channels, as well as three HBO premium channels and HBO On Demand. The app offers on demand content from Comedy Central, TLC, Nickelodeon, Discovery and video clips from Xite.

Catch-up TV is available for all main Dutch channels from NPO, RTL and SBS, up to seven days after the original broadcast.

Play is available to anyone with internet access from any broadband provider, at home and on the go, and for both iOS and Android. By using the app’s Chromecast functionality, KPN Play can also be viewed on a regular TV set.
