A 15-year old boy from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, arrested in connection with the hack on the TalkTalk website, has been released on police bail.
More details of Wednesday’s cyber attack have begun to emerge; investigations by the telco have shown that sensitive financial information such as credit and debit card numbers have been protected, however bank account numbers and sort codes may have been visible.
In a statement TalkTalk said: “TalkTalk can confirm that we have been informed by the Metropolitan Police of the arrest of a suspect in connection with the cyberattack on our website on 21st October 2015. We know this has been a worrying time for customers and we are grateful for the swift response and hard work of the police. We will continue to assist in the ongoing investigation.”
The investigation being conducted by the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit, Police Service of Northern Ireland and National Crime Agency is continuing.
