Cable Europe and CTAM Europe are integrating

August 27, 2015 09.12 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Amsterdam Skinny Bridge by NightCTAM Eurosummit’15, Amsterdam.. Cable Europe will bring the activities of CTAM Europe, the industry’s body for marketing professionals, under the umbrella of Cable Europe, the trade association representing Europe’s largest broadband cable operators.

Under the merger, the two organisations will also bring together their respective annual events, integrating EuroSummit into a refreshed and relaunched Cable Congress from 2016 onwards. Details of Cable Congress will be announced shortly, but rumour has it that it will take place in Poland, either in Warsaw or Krakow at dates to be confirmed.

Speaking in Amsterdam, Cable Europe executive chairman Matthias Kurth said: “By bringing together the two leading representative bodies for our industry we’re creating unprecedented intelligence and access opportunities across the entire breadth of our membership. Our business is one of convergence, of innovation, of growth. Our new structure will reflect this, and it will capitalise on it”.

“Scale matters everywhere in business and this is a logical step in the evolution of our dynamic industry in Europe,” added Manuel Kohnstamm, president of Cable Europe.

“The integration of Cable Europe and CTAM Europe will make the consolidated group more effective in representation and best-practice sharing. It reflects the ongoing commitment of all our members to growth and investment in Europe’s digital economy, infrastructure and services.”

The associations announced earlier in the year their joint membership offer for global content providers, reflecting the increasing convergence between content and distribution platforms. Today it is confirmed that Disney is joining existing new members HBO Europe and Viacom International Media Networks Northern Europe as a joint member of the two bodies.

“This move to integrate our expertise is a win-win for our members both individuals and companies,” said Eric Tveter, chairman of CTAM Europe.

“Enhanced co-operation on strategic issues between cable companies and content and app owners, a deeper dialogue with external stakeholders, and the sharing of know-how across our skill sets – this is truly a reflection of the dynamic industry of which we’re all a part”.

Under the new structure, CTAME will continue to support the European media industry with its ongoing activities such as: the executive education programme at INSEAD annual webinars, and joint collaboration with CTAM North America on joint initiatives such as Business Service and Global Marketing activities.
