The Hungarian regulator NMHH has punished Invitel and UPC for what it terms is “conduct detrimental to consumers’ interests”.
In the case of Invitel, a HUF80 million (€260,000) fine has been imposed specifically for amending contracts in a one-sided manner and without respecting the rules governing electronic communications.
Meanwhile, UPC has received a HUF10 million fine for not amending the offending terms and conditions of contracts for over a year despite a previous binding decision imposed by the NMHH.
