German media company Axel Springer will change the name of its TV news channel N24 into WELT (translated “World”).
Under the umbrella brand WELT, Springer will in future bundle all journalistic offerings of its newspapers Die Welt and Welt am Sonntag as well as N24 on TV, the web and print. The goal would be to become the digital flagship platform for high-quality journalism, according to the company.
The introduction of the new brand will gradually take place through a long period of time to build up loyalty and trust by readers, viewers and advertisers.
Springer acquired N24 in December 2013.
