Bosnia & Herzegovina’s failure to start the transition to digital broadcasting – the deadline for which expires today (June 17) for European countries – is causing problems with neighbouring Serbia.
Teve reports that the BiH regulator RAK has received complaints from Serbia about interference caused by analogue transmissions.
BiH is the only country in Europe not to have begun the transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting and between 40-50% of its homes still watch analogue TV.
Although no sanctions are likely on the country it will, according to RAK spokesperson Amela Odobasic, have to take rapid steps to address the failure to start digitisation by the end of the year.
