Slovakia’s Joj Group has officially launched the second of its three planned new channels for this year.
Known as Joj Cinema, it offers viewers exclusive Czech and Slovak TV premieres of films of all genres, along with dozens of well-known foreign movies.
All content carried by Joj Cinema is fully licensed for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with distribution in both countries being undertaken by the media company Axocom.
On air for 24 hours daily, it is broadcast in Czech and free of advertising.
Joj Cinema is initially being offered by Skylink, Antik Telecom, CentroNet and KTR and will gradually be added to the portfolios of other Czech and Slovak cable and DTH operators.
Its distribution on Skylink follows an agreement between Luxembourg-based M7 Group and Slovenska produkcna, the Slovak-based owner of Joj Group. It allows Joj Cinema to also distribute its programme to third party operators in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with M7 Platform Services arranging for various technical solutions.
Joj launched the kids channel RiK at the beginning of this year and earlier this month announced plans for another kids channel, known as Tuki TV and produced jointly with Slovak Telekom.
