The Hungarian regulator NMHH is to allocate HUF104 million (€333,000) in aid to 23 local and regional TV channels.
Nine of these channels offer public programming, eight are cultural and six news-based.
They include Kisk?rös Televízió, Régió TV Esztergom and TV10, along with Debrecen Televízió, Csaba TV and Tolnatáj Televízió.
In total, the NMHH has provided aid of HUF1.74 billion to 384 TV channels since 2011.
Separately, the NMHH says it has fined TV2, one of Hungary’s two lesading national commercial broadcasters, HUF5.3 million for failing to show programmes in their original language and with Hungarian subtitles on 71 occasions.
It adds that according to Hungarian media law, popular stations such as TV2 and RTL Klub are obliged to make one quarter of their dubbed programmes available in the original langue from 19.00 to 23.00.
The NMHH has also fined the public channel M2 HUF120,000 for reducing its Hungarian output last year below the 6.6% benchmark figure.
