Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) has launched an investigation into UPC Hungary.
In a statement, the GVH says that it relates to the provision of internet services by the cable operator in District 29, Monor, on the outskirts of Budapest, where it has a monopoly position.
The investigation follows complaints by customers who allege they are offered a lower quality service, and for a higher charge, than the rest of the country.
The GVH says that the investigation does not imply that UPC Hungary has committed an offence.
By law, the GVH has six months to complete the procedure, after which an extension of six months can be granted on two occasions.
