Luxembourg-based M7 Group has concluded a satellite capacity and distribution agreement with US-based new linear TV channel The QYOU.
The QYOU is curating and packaging premium short form content from the internet, into a new HD channel and VOD products for the global pay TV market.
Following its launch in Africa on 1 October 2014, the agreement with M7 Group expands The QYOU’s footprint to include the European market for the first time. The QYOU will be distributed via M7-owned TV platforms CanalDigitaal and Online.nl in The Netherlands, TV Vlaanderen in Belgium and Skylink in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
M7 Platform Services arranges for the Astra 23.5 degrees East satellite distribution of The QYOU to third party platform operators within Europe, with some further announcements in that regard to come shortly.
“The QYOU is extremely excited to launch in Europe with M7’s CanalDigitaal, Online.nl, TV Vlaanderen and Skylink platforms,” said Scott Ehrlich, CEO and Co-Founder of The QYOU.
“When we combined M7’s consumer distribution with their capabilities in satellite delivery, it made the decision to partner with them really easy. We see this as the beginning of a long and productive relationship with the M7 Group.”
“With its innovative channel format, The QYOU is a great addition to our content line-up and it fits very well with our strong belief in hybrid viewing solutions, both in term of content and distribution platforms,” commented Bill Wijdeveld, VP Business Development M7 Group.
“We are very proud to be selected as the channel’s European launch partner and we look forward to a fruitful and long-standing relationship.”
