Spain’s Ministry of Industry has put back the freeing up of its 700 MHz band for 4G/LTE networks until April.
El Economista reports that this follows requests by both TV broadcasters and aerial installers (Fenitel) and the fact that 2.5 million households have still to retune their receivers.
It is estimated that by March 81% of homes will have retuned – 26 percentage points more than in January but still some way short of the 100% target.
Aside for aiding public broadcasters, the government has allocated €280 million for the retuning of collective antennas.
The latter can be claimed up to the end of June but has also to be declared to the Treasury.
The DTT switch was initially scheduled to take place at the beginning of the year but was then put back until the middle of this month.
