German transmitter network operator Media Broadcast has commenced offering radio stations on its HbbTV-based hybrid DTT service multithek.
The current lineup comprises Radio B2, BB Radio, Radio Teddy, 89.0 RTL, Radio Brocken, Deluxe Radio and Deluxe Lounge.
Like it is the case with the additional TV channels provided to DTT household by multithek, the radio stations are not transmitted terrestrially, but as live-streams through the internet.
The free-of-charge OTT service multithek can be used with DTT reception devices compliant with interactive multimedia standard HbbTV and connected to the internet. The data rate should amount to at least 2Mbps.
multithek is currently available via DTT in Berlin, Hamburg, Saarbrücken, in the Rhine Main area, in Hannover, Braunschweig, Stuttgart, Munich, Nuremberg, Bremen, Lübeck and Kiel, in federal state North-Rhine Westphalia – and nationwide via satellite on Astra (19.2° East).
