The Hungarian incumbent Magyar Telekom has acquired cable operators in 2014 in order to further expand its high-speed internet coverage.
In a statement, the company says that as a result of the acquisitions, the latter now reach 30,000 more households.
It adds that working towards the goals of Digital Hungary, it aims to be able to provide high-speed broadband internet to every household in the country by 2018, or two years ahead of the deadline specified by the EU.
Broadband TV News notes that Magyar Telekom has seen a steady decline in its overall cable subscriber total in the last few years, with customers migrating to its IPTV and DTH services.
