German commercial TV broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 will be able to distribute its free-to-air channel ProSieben Maxx on DTT in Frankfurt and surroundings.
LPR, the media authority of federal state Hessen, granted the company the permission to use the vacant slot on DTT channel K52. The capacity used to be occupied by entertainment channel Anixe which handed back the permission.
In the subsequent tender only ProSiebenSat.1 submitted an application, according to LPR.
Channel K52 covers the Rhein Main region which includes the cities of Frankfurt, Offenbach, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Hanau and Bad Homburg. Around 6.4 million inhabitants can receive the multiplex with a roof aerial. For half of them (3.2 million), an indoor antenna is sufficient.
With the launch of ProSieben Maxx which is to take place shortly a total of 13 public and 13 commercial TV channels will be distributed in the Rhein Main region.
