German commercial TV broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 can distribute its free-to-air TV channel ProSieben Maxx on digital terrestrial frequencies in federal state Schleswig-Holstein in future.
Local media authority MA HSH has allocated a DTT slot covering the urban areas of Lübeck (channel K59) and Kiel (channel K47) to the Munich-based TV group.
The allocation is for a 10-year period. However, ProSiebenSat.1 has already declared that it will hand back the capacity as soon as DVB-T transmissions cease to make room for a nationwide commercial DTT platform as part of the transition to successor standard DVB-T2 scheduled to commence in June 2016.
In November 2014, MA HSH launched a tender for the DTT slot previously occupied by Bibel TV. ProSieben Maxx can already be received via DTT in neighbouring Hamburg.
