Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has awarded a satellite TV licence to TV Zone, a company owned by the media group Agora.
According to Press.pl, the channel will be focused on culture and include lifestyle and entertainment-based programming.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, Agora is planning to build a presence in Poland’s TV market, having taken its first steps in March by acquiring a 41% stake in Stopklatka from Kino Polska TV. It also operates an online channel named Tuba.tv.
Agora was established in 1989 and has interests in newspapers, magazines, cinema, outdoor advertising, radio and the internet.
Its main shareholders are Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne PZU (14.91%), ING Otwarty Fundusz Emerytalny (12.48%) and Agora-Holding (10.60%), with 62% held in a free float
