The trademark dispute between YouView and the Cheltenham-based communications firm Total Ltd has been settled.
Total had argued YouView was in breach of the trademarks act because the PSB-telco TV venture is using a trademark, identical to its own YOUR VIEW mark.
In June, YouView said it intended to appeal against a High Court ruling on the matter, but a statement from Total Ltd said the dispute had been settled “to the mutual satisfaction of the parties”.
A spokesperson for YouView told Broadband TV News: “We have reached a mutual agreement with Total Ltd on the recent trade mark issue which is now fully resolved. YouView will continue to use the YouView brand for all of its services.”
Originally known as Project Canvas, YouView applied to use the YouView mark in lower case in April 2010.
