German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has acquired the exclusive live broadcasting rights of the EHF Handball Champions League in Germany and Austria.
From the 2014/15 season starting on September 25 and continuing through the next three seasons, Sky will show all games of the German teams as well as the EHF Final 4 live. In addition to the TV broadcasting rights, the agreement also comprises the internet, IPTV and mobile TV rights.
In the 2014/15 season, the German record-holder THW Kiel, defending champion SG Flensburg-Handewitt and Rhein-Neckar Löwen will represent the Bundesliga in the EHF Champions League. Sky will broadcast each of the 30 group phase games of the German clubs as well as all games of the last 16 and quarter-finals with German involvement live.
Sky will also be the exclusive live broadcaster of the season highlight, the EHF Final 4 on May 30/31, 2015 in Cologne.
The highlights of the games of the German clubs will be available on demand for all handball fans at no cost on the internet at catch-up service Sky Mediathek.
The rights were previously held by Eurosport.
The EHF Champions League brings together Europe’s leading handball clubs. 24 teams compete between September and May for the chance to qualify for the EHF Final 4.
