Germany’s national telco Deutsche Telekom will expand its domestic IPTV platform Entertain by a virtual mobile video recorder.
With the cloud recorder, customers will be able to watch their recorded TV programmes on the go using their laptop, tablet or smartphone from mid-September 2014.
With the new feature which will be integrated into mobile service Entertain to go, Telekom claims to be the first operator in Germany offering live TV, video-on-demand (VOD) and access to individual recordings within an integrated mobile platform.
Entertain to go contains around 40 TV channels including Das Erste, ZDF, RTL, Sat.1, ProSieben and VOX and a VOD portal with movies and series. The service can be used in parallel on up to four devices and costs €6.95 per month including 10 hours of cloud storage space for recordings. For €4.95 per month, the storage capacity can be expanded by 20 hours up to three times.
At launch of the cloud recorder, the recording function won’t be available for the channels operated by TV group ProSiebenSat.1.
