German public broadcaster ARD has modernised the design and functionality of its catch-up TV portal ARD Mediathek.
The service is now offered in responsive design which means that the appearance is automatically adapted to each screen size. Whether users access ARD Mediathek from a large screen on their desk, on a tablet or on the go with a smartphone: The portal will appear in an adjusted design.
With the move, ARD reacts to the growing usage with mobile devices and different operating systems. Fort smartphone users, there are two ways to access the catch-up service: through the ARD Mediathek app like before or in the new responsive design through the browser on the website www.ardmediathek.de.
Current programmes, editorial pieces, reportages, documentaries, movies and the Einslike section for young viewers are now prominently featured on the starting page. There are also recommendations by the editorial team, genre channels and topical dossiers.
The Live section comprises the live-streams of ARD’s TV channels. In the Radio section programmes from public radio stations Deutschlandradio and Deutschlandfunk will soon be offered.
