Gamific.TV powers games with HbbTV

April 8, 2014 10.29 Europe/London By Robert Briel

William Schlegel Gamific.tvMIPTV 2014 – CANNES. French interactive TV developer Gamific.TV is showcasing two games using the HbbTV standard.

With the first game, viewers can play a ‘kill the zombies’ game while watching episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

After downloading the Zombies app, people can shoot zombies in the series, while continuing to watch the programme. Every person in the room can join the game on their own device and compete with each other.

The other app, which is provisionally called Entertainment, gives viewers the possibility to directly interact with a TV programme, also using the HbbTV standard for synchronisation.

Logging in with Facebook accounts, viewers will also be able to see who of their friends are watching the same programme.

“We are offering these apps to broadcasters, who can use it to increase involvement with the program me,” said William Schlegel, president and founder of Gamific TV.

The developer is also showcasing an app which allows a broadcaster to manage in-show conversations with a programme. It is available as an online service, that includes a timeline dived in public and official posts, different social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram), as well as interactive posts from the broadcaster for the viewer to vote or play games.
