The launch of Ukraine’s first-ever communications satellite has been put back by the Russian annexation of Crimea.
According to Interfax and Satkurier, it will now take place in summer 2014 rather than this month.
Lybid, which has been built by the Canadian company MDA at a cost of $254.6 million (€184.7 million), was to employ a ground station located in Eupatoria, Crimea.
It is understood that this will now be moved to Dunaivtsi, in the Kmelnytski Oblast.
Lybid will be located at 48 degrees East and distribute up to 900 channels.
