Canal+ Group has opted for Quadrille’s push VOD technology for integration in its STBs to provide on demand services to subscribers.
The technology, known as QUADRIFAST, allows operators to offer – using content pushed in advance to subscriber STBs’ hard disk using any type of network, be it satellite, terrestrial, cable or IP – a wide range of services including catch-up, subscription or transactional VOD.
Philippe Rivas, Canal+ technical manager distribution, said: “After a detailed analysis of the technology and a successful proof of concept, we believe that Quadrille’s QUADRIFAST push VOD platform, thanks to its performance, flexibility and ease of integration, will allow Canal+ to provide innovative on demand services to its subscribers in the years to come”.
Laurence Grosbost, Quadrille’s CEO, added: “We are proud of being selected by Canal+, one of the leading European pay-TV operators, for this new service. Our technology allows innovative on demand access to VOD content to be offered to viewers with limited or no broadband connection in a cost effective manner.”
