OSN launches Sundance Channel HD

January 14, 2014 09.22 Europe/London By Robert Briel

sundancechannelOSN has signed a deal with AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international division of AMC Networks, to launch Sundance Channel HD in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The new channel, which celebrates independent feature films, world cinema, documentaries, short films, series and original programmes, will be available exclusively on OSN from Wednesday, Januar 15y.

Sundance Channel HD will complement OSN’s existing line-up of over 135 channels, including 15 movie channels and 14 entertainment/series channels offering even more premium and exclusive content choices to OSN viewers. This latest channel also takes the total number of HD channels now available on OSN to 37.

David Butorac, CEO of OSN, said: “Our partnership with AMC/Sundance Channel Global highlights our commitment to continuously enhance the TV choices we provide through original and differentiating content.

“OSN viewers will be the first to enjoy a wide range of fascinating series, reality shows and independent films never seen before in the region. Sundance channel is a perfect fit to our exclusive showcase of premium entertainment introducing viewers to bold stories with a fresh and unique point of view.”

Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, said: “This exciting launch will significantly extend the reach of Sundance Channel into new territories throughout the Middle East and North Africa for the first time. We’re looking forward to working closely with OSN, the Premier Pay TV platform in the region, to deliver original dramatic series alongside the best independent cinema.”

Marco Frazier, VP Global Distribution EMEA, assisted in brokering the deal on behalf of AMC/Sundance Channel Global.

Launched in 1996 by Robert Redford, Sundance Channel defined a new era in independent filmmaking. Showcasing both today’s creative icons and emerging talent of tomorrow, the channel celebrates Redford’s approach to creativity and independent content creation.

Sundance Channel will be available both in the content’s original language and with Arabic subtitling. The new channel will be available to OSN subscribers on the Platinum HD and Premier HD packages and is available anywhere via OSN Play, the region’s first online TV viewing platform.
