Telenor pioneers multiscreen platform

December 10, 2013 09.11 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

HungaryTelenor and UUX have entered into a partnership to launch MyTV, a next generation internet TV service initially provided to Telenor customers in Hungary.

UUX, which is a new corporation at the forefront of OTT technology, is providing a turnkey solution for what is one of the world’s first internet TV as-a-Service (iTaaS) platforms.

MyTV will initially offer viewers 14 channels.

Covering new, children’s, sports and general interest programming, they include three AXN, two DUNA and three FilmBox channels, with more services to be added in the future.

Besides live TV, MyTV offers catch-up TV and VOD content and can be accessed on all internet connected devices and screens.

Users will also have unlimited access to and extensive library of premium Hollywood content including movies and TV series free of charge for the first three months. Different packages will be introduced at a future date. Commenting on the launch, Christopher Laska, CEO of Telenor Hungary, said:

“Telenor Hungary is proud to launch MyTV as a revolutionary new service for the Hungarian market. We focus on a convenient, easy-to-use service offering high-quality content provided by our partners. We will continuously improve the service and extend our TV and video offering based on customer feedback.

Lou Schwartz CEO of UUX, added: “The incredible speed of deployment at Telenor shows that our solution really is turnkey.

“I’m very excited that Telenor Hungary’s subscribers are the first in Europe to benefit from our iTaaS platform and really looking forward to MyTV entertaining Telenor customers throughout Hungary.”
