ITI Neovision has joined a growing list of companies interested in securing a licence on what will eventually be Poland’s eighth DTT multiplex.
Wirtualne Media reports that a total of 16 applications have been received by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) for frequencies in the 174-230MHz band, which will be allocated to digital TV services.
Although the deadline for submissions was November 19, it is still waiting for those sent by post.
ITI Neovision owns TVN, which is a minority shareholder in the DTH platform nc+, formed by the merger of n and Cyfra+ in March this year.
Other applicants for the frequencies include Cyfrowy Polsat, through its subsidiary Info-TV FM, the public broadcaster TVP, Kino Polska TV and Agora.
Poland currently has four active multiplexes, the first three of which are allocated to digital TV and fourth to mobile TV, in the latter case operated by Cyfrowy Polsat.
Consultations are taking place about the fifth and sixth multiplexes, which will use frequencies from the digital dividend, while the seventh multiplex has been reserved for LTE services.
