Sky Go will add more channels to its offer this year on top of the 14 announced earlier this week. What is more, Sky ultimately wants to be the OTT aggregator of choice, according to Luke Bradley-Jones, product director, TV, BSkyB.
Bradley-Jones also said that the company is now focused on making Sky Go a core part of its offer in the next 12-18 months.
Speaking generally about Sky’s plans for the future, Bradley-Jones said that its big focus is now on connecting set-top boxes to the internet.
Investment in on demand content will continue and new box sets will be made available.
Sky has used OTT to innovate for a long time and will continue to invest in OTT innovation in the future.
Now TV has shown it that OTT is creating new ways to reach customers.
Commenting on Sky Go, Bradley-Jones said that it had 190 million views in the third quarter. Sky Store was meanwhile used by 1 million customers in the last quarter, with over 2 million rentals.
Sky Go Extra, launched at the end of January, already had 385,000 sign ups by the end of September.
Asked about price reductions in Now TV, Bradley-Jones said that Sky does a lot of research into pricing and Now’s price would continue to evolve across all packs.
