The Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska has signed an agreement with Polkomtel, the operator of the country’s leading mobile company Plus.
Under it, Plus will provide Multimedia Polska with access to its mobile network, thereby allowing it to become an MVNO.
Multimedia Polska now expects to launch a commercial mobile service before the end of this year. Multimedia Polska ended the third quarter with over one million TV RGUs, of who 309,000 received digital cable or IPTV services.
It also had 492,000 internet and 285,000 fixed line telephony customers.
Separately, P4, the operator of the mobile service Play, has launched a mobile TV service following a trial period.
TV.Play.pl consists of three packages, the most comprehensive of which contains 54 channels, 20 VOD titles and internet webcams, plus two further packages offering adult content and internet TV.
It is being made available free of charge for the first 30 days, after which it will cost – for the most comprehensive package – PLN34.99 (€8.34) a month.
The service will initially be available to Play customers on tablets, smartphones (Android) and PCs (with Silverlight).
